History


  • 1923 – A Management team appointed by Shri Kishinchand Chellaram arrive and set up the group's first branch in Africa, commencing with wholesale operations in textiles.
     
  • 1947 – Incorporated as a Nigerian limited Company company.
     
  • 1970 – Company splits to become K. Chellarams Nigeria Ltd. and Kaycee Nigeria Ltd.
     
  • 1978 – K. Chellarams becomes a Public Limited Company and is included on the Nigerian Stock Exchange.
     
  • 1982 – The Company shifts focus from retail to wholesale
     
  • 1990 – K. Chellarams is renamed Chellarams Plc.
     
  • 1995 – Chellarams trust is established to provide educational assistance for present and former employees and their families.
